add torrential tribute

I've been playing the game for a few months now and it still astounds me that people mess up costs and effects. Especially when it comes to psychic decks.

It is a cost not an effect. omg what is it Hannibal and I all but spelled it out for you here. when a card says discard than do this, the discard is a cost to activate the effect but something like dark world lightning says do this then discard a card making the discard an effect. other cards that have discard as an effect would be dragged down in to the grave and card destruction.

Dark world monsters says discarded by a card effect not a card cost therefore you will not get their effects when you discard them for a cost. that better?

phoenix wing windblast , feather of the phoenix, tribute to the doomed are cost-effect?


but the card is "still" discarded by effect right?

no it is discarded for the cost of the card.

if you are still having trouble go look up darkworld on wikia and read about it there.

ok maybe i can clear this out for you guys.

cost is: something you need to do before the effect of the spell, trap or monster card is applied/resolves.

Example: Lightning vortex; causes you to discard 1 card from your hand before its effect resolves therefore if you discard a DW monster for it the effect of DW monster isnt applied since it was a cost.

Card effect: Dark World Dealings; the card lets you draw and your opponent 1 card from the deck ( thats the effect number 1 ) then after you both have drawn your cards you both need to discard a random card from hand ( effect 2 of the card or rather side effect )

therefore if you discard a DW as the effect of DW dealings you get the effect of the discarded DW monster.

Hope this cleared some issues out.

On an interesting side note, Allure of Darkness doesn't have a cost. Unfortunately all the dark world creatures are just that, Dark.

If you have imperial Iron wall set up then you will be unable to remove a monster from play and will therfeore have to discard your entire hand as an effect.


This is great if you are going for game but not very good elsewhere.
