k this is the thing i'm not sure of


if i play Dark Core i need to discard one card to destroy one face up monster,
as i play it in a dark world deck is the eff of my discarded monster activated or not?

i'm testing a new magician deck

situation was i summon Dark Magician Girl and thought i could play thousand knives with it but the guy said i need Dark Magician what about that?

Silvia effect doesn't activate Since you should discard 1 card to activate Dark Core effect, that's mean Silvia isn't discarded by a card effect but for the cost.

the discard for Dark Core is a cost so cards such as Silvva would not have their effects activate. and for your second question Kzor, Thousand Knives needs a face up Dark Magician on the field, Dark Magician Girl is not Dark Magician.

Dark Core:

Discarding 1 card from your hand is a cost.

Effect of a Dark World Monster:

If this card is discarded from the hand to the Graveyard by a card effect, Special Summon it.

A cost,isn't the card's effect,the card's effect resolves next to a cost.If you can't pay a cost,then you can't activate the card, or/and the effect of the card gets negated,because you haven't payed it's cost.

Example:

Dark Core. You discard a DW monster,Then,Dark Core's effect resolves.Since it's a cost,and not an effect,the DW Monster will not be special summoned on your side of the field.

Thousand Knives:

It says only while Dark Magician is on the field,and,Dark Magician's Girl Effect doesen't say that card's name is treated as Dark Magician.If it was,you could activate Thousand Knives,but,it isn't, so Thousand Knives works ONLY when you have a Dark Magician,and it doesen't work if you have Dark Magician Girl,Dark Magician Of Chaos or Magician of Black Chaos.
